Dr. Lowe's Skincare Routine

Reviewed by: Christopher Lowe, M.D., FAAD

What does your dermatologist use on their skin? What products should men use on their skin? Today we are breaking down the skincare routine of Dr. Christopher Lowe, a specialist in Dermatology.

According to Dr. Lowe, the basis of any skincare routine is a gentle cleanser. A few good mild cleanser options are Dove, CeraVe, Cetaphil, and Vanicream. Dr. Lowe starts his morning routine by washing his face with Dove's sensitive skin.

Dr. Lowe’s next step is to use a Vitamin C Serum to help with anti-aging. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that works to stimulate collagen production in your skin. It also fights fine lines, brightens your complexion, and provides other benefits. He recommends SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic serum to his patients, many of which have seen increased benefits. For a more affordable option, he recommends CeraVe Vitamin C serum.

Lastly, Dr. Lowe uses Aveeno Ultra-Calming Daily Moisturizer with SPF 15. This moisturizer is a great option to apply after shaving since it is mild and will not burn. He recommends that patients use moisturizing sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or more every day.

In the evening, Dr. Lowe's skincare routine consists of applying a powerful moisturizer. His favorite moisturizers are CeraVe or Cetaphil. As the weather turns colder, Dr. Lowe prefers to use a heavier moisturizer like the LaRoche Posay Lipikar Balm AP+ Intense Repair Moisturizing Cream.

<p">Dr. Lowe prefers to shave every other day and uses a single-blade BIC-sensitive disposable razor. While he uses Gillette Ultra-Sensitive shave gel for his routine, he also recommends Aveeno Shave Gel. Lastly, he uses the Bump Patrol Aftershave Treatment to prevent razor bumps. It is crucial to be mindful that alcohol-based aftershave may cause a mild burning sensation.
