Abby Russell, D.O., FAAD

Specialist in Dermatology

About Abby Russell

Abby Russell is a board-certified Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine at Galen Dermatology. She grew up in the greater Chattanooga area and graduated high school from Chattanooga School for the Arts and Sciences. Dr. Russell graduated magna cum laude from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with a bachelor’s in nursing. She then attended the Edward Via Virginia College of Medicine and completed her residency at LewisGale Hospital Montgomery in Blacksburg, Virginia. During her residency, Dr. Russell received the Intern of the Year award and served as chief resident. Dr. Russell has published papers in the HCA Healthcare Journal of Medicine, and the Journal of the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology.

Dr. Russell found an interest in Dermatology during medical school. She enjoyed each one of her clinical rotations but when she worked in dermatology, she saw how it incorporated what she loved from the other fields of medicine into one specialty. She loves the variety of seeing all ages of patients, helping people manage more complex medical dermatology, and improving someone’s sense of well-being with cosmetics. It’s truly the variety of patients that she gets to work with that keeps it interesting and exciting. Outside of work, Dr. Russell enjoys spending time with her two small children, husband, and dogs. Her family likes to spend time outdoors and would likely be doing something active such as: running, hiking, or skiing in the right season! She also loves trying new foods, cooking, and having friends and family over for some good food and conversation.
